Review of Real-Time Temperature Measurement for Process Monitoring of Laser Conduction Welding

چکیده

Laser welding has been applied to various industries, in particular, automotive, aerospace and microelectronics. Primary aim of joining two metals by keeping their properties unaltered, that can be only possible by controlling temperature, heating and cooling rates. However measurement of weld pool temperature during laser spot welding is a difficult task because of the short pulse duration, often lasting only a few milliseconds, highly transient nature of the process, and the presence of a metal vapour plume near the weld pool. This paper deals with the application and developments of acoustic, optical, thermal, spectral and ultrasonic techniques for weld pool temperature monitoring. The advantages and limitations of these techniques are also discussed.

Heat Transfer in Semitransparent Medium Caused by Laser Pulse

In this paper, the combination of conduction with radiation into a semitransparent medium which includes absorption, emission and scattering has been investigated. In order to Study the conduction in medium, the Non-Fourier heat conduction has been applied. In this model there is a time delay between heat flux and temperature gradient. Also, in contrast with Fourier heat conduction, the speed o...

Process Control of Stainless Steel Laser Welding using an Optical Spectroscopic Sensor

The in-process monitoring and real-time control of the penetration depth during laser welding is evaluated. An optical collimator collects the optical emission for measurement with a fast spectrometer. The sensor data are used to calculate the electron temperature and subsequently to determine the weld quality of overlap welds in AISI 304 stainless steel sheets performed both with CW Nd:YAG and...

Application of schlieren interferometry to temperature measurements during laser welding of high-density polyethylene films.

Schlieren interferometry is found to be an alternative tool for temperature measurement during thermoplastic laser welding with regard to methods based on thermocouples or optical pyrometers. In fact, these techniques are not easily applied when materials to be processed have reduced thickness, negligible heat conduction, and low emissivity, as is the case of welding high-density polyethylene f...
